Day 2

Today the children have had a full day in their host buddy's classroom.  We met as a group this afternoon for the children to recount their experiences of their first evening.  We touched base with them in their small groups also. They have all had a lovely evening back with their host families and have already become aware of differences in culture and routines. They have had an interesting time adapting to the time difference and the experiences that they have been part of, including making the lunch box meals before the evening meal for some. Children are finding the shoes on policy a little tricky.

Mathew spoke about his experience of watching his buddy Kai win the Victorian triple jump competition yesterday morning. He was really pleased to be part of Kai beating his personal best record at the State Champs.

Amity has enjoyed meeting her host family's beagles( Ben and Chloe), very cute.  She also enjoyed her after school drawing club, where she looked at creating cartoon characters. She also enjoyed eating dinner with her hands.

Flynn is looking forward to being part of the Escape Rooms team tonight , where he will have to work along side his buddy to solve puzzles to escape before time runs out.

Sophie was a little surprised this morning to find toast buttered and ready on the counter top.

Yesterday afternoon was busy for Charlotte, visiting The Melbourne Zoo followed by dinner at The Blue Train in Federation Square.  She slept well until she was woken by the crows and magpies this morning.

Liam was very impressed that his host family allowed him to read as long as he wanted. He did however manage to get some sleep.

Ichigo enjoyed time with her host family eating some Egyptian wraps and then watching the Three Stooges with the host family. She was asleep by 7.30pm, so feels well rested for today.

Ollie has been loving the Indian food cooked for him, a little bit of spice but a real change.

All of the children have also enjoyed the marble trading at morning tea and lunchtime, where they saw the trading of marbles. The children are also looking forward to bringing in some spending money to spend at the school canteen that is open during lunchtimes. Slushies are on the top of the menu!

The kids are all really excited about the excursions tomorrow but other exciting things include;

Corban - Looking forward to KFC for dinner tonight
Oscar - Is excited about hopefully getting to see a kangaroo at the local park
Macy - Heading up the Eureka tower
